The beginning of our organisation started with Angela Atkinson, our Director, Manager, as well as heart and soul. In August 2011, Angela saw a need. A need for a group that would help with the pets across Townsville and surrounding districts, from all walks of life. Puppies and kittens that couldn’t be taken care of properly by their family, pets that need to be re-homed because of a change of family circumstances, or just animals that have been abandoned or found lost.
After 14 years the animal rescue network in Northern Queensland is still struggling under the weight of homeless and unwanted animals. We now as a team spend every day working tirelessly to keep TFRA running smoothly and ensuring every animal that comes through our front doors get the best chance at life possible.
